Gaston College's Siler earns school's first All-American honor
After being voted Gaston College's first Region 10 player of the year after helping the Rhinos to a regular season title and one of its best seasons in school history, Kaleb Siler has received another first on Wednesday.
Siler, a 6-foot-10 sophomore from Fayetteville who played at Matthews' Carmel Christian Academy, became the school's first National Junior College Athletic Association All-American.
He was a third team selection after helping Gaston College to a 28-4 overall record and 12-2 league mark for the school's fourth regular season title in school history. He averaged 18.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game overall and 19.5 points and 9.9 rebounds in 14 league games.
Siler finished the season with 17 double-doubles for points and rebounds, which is the highest since the school restarted athletics in the 2021-22 school year and second all-time.
"We are extremely proud of Kaleb as the first All American in school history," Rhinos head coach Benny Moss said. "What a great honor. It is very much deserved. It is good to see good things happen to good people who work extremely hard."
Siler is currently considering multiple offers from four-year schools and will continue his career in the fall.
