Gaston College freshman outfielder gets Rawlings Gold Glove Award
Gaston College's championship-winning softball team got another honor on Thursday when freshman right fielder Adah Bruining was named winner of the National Junior College Athletic Association's Rawlings Gold Glove award.
A freshman from Clover, S.C., Bruining had 59 chances in 60 games with 55 putouts, four assists, one double play and no errors.
Bruining also hit .360 with nine home runs and 51 RBIs.
Her efforts helped Gaston College to a 62-6 overall record, 12th-place NJCAA World Series finish and Region 10 and Mid-Atlantic District titles.
An all-Region 10 selection, Bruining becomes the third Gold Glove winner in coach Michael Steuerwald's five-year-old program's history.
Previous Gaston College Golden Glove winners were pitcher Brantleigh Parrott in 2023 and second baseman Alayna Patrick in 2025.
